The Definition of a Dynasty

Mount Unioun Ohio

When you think of dynasties you usually think of major college football. For example you might think of The Florida State Seminoles from 1987-2000 where they finished in the top 5 for fourteen straight years, Nebraska from 1994-1997 where they won three national titles in four years, or even recently Alabama which is currently seeking their third national title in four years RIGHT NOW! But none of these can even sniff what this next program has accomplished……..MOUNT UNION OHIO PURPLE RAIDERS!!

Mount Union is a small Division III school that has dominated its division since 1992. Let me just rattle off a couple of their accomplishments in the last 20 years…..

- 10 DIVISION III NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

- Winners of the Ohio Athletic conference since 1992 (20 straight years!)

- 8 straight national championship appearances

- Only one multiple loss season since 1992

- Coach Larry Kehres which started coaching the Purple Raiders since 1986 has a 331-24-3 (.929) record!

The Mount Union Purple Raiders are off to another Division III national title.  Lately they have been getting used to fighting for it against Wisconsin-Whitewater. They have played them in the National Championship every year since 2005 but St. Thomas from Minnesota will try to prevent another national title heading to Mount Union.
