Texas A&M Gig’em Offensive Line

Texas A&M Aggies

The Texas A&M Aggies have just finished their season 11-2 and Cotton Bowl Champions over old Big 12 rival Oklahoma. This is their best season since 1998 and probably just put them in the top 5 for next year’s pre-season rankings. Now when most think of the Aggies success 99.9% of the time everyone thinks of Johnny Football or now I guess you could say Johnny Heisman. Now the front five, who are Johnny Footballs personal security on the football field might be a little forgotten in the media but definitely not to Johnny. He made sure to give them a big thank you in his Heisman speech to all five of his hoggies by mentioning all their names. These five were a BIG reason for Texas A&M’s success and a big reason why they will be national championship contenders next year.

STATS: It’s amazing to think that with a team that had a mobile QB who is always looking to extend plays that the Aggies gave up only a whopping 23 sacks. The protection showed tonight allowing no sacks tonight giving Johnny plenty of time. Also with tonight’s effort of rushing for 326 yards that put the rushing totals for the year of over 3,000 yards which is crazy. The first and second string running backs for the Aggies easily averaged over 5.5 yards per carry this year.

THE RETURNING: Every Aggie fan has to be happy that three out of the five starters on the offensive line including big time prospect Right Tackle Jake Matthews. Sadly the offensive line leader Patrick Lewis is leaving and Luke Joeckel is leaving to enter the NFL draft early. But there is some good news as waiting in the shadows every second string offensive lineman is coming back with a year of learning. Another great off-season and this offensive line will be looking to make an amazing show next year.

THE RECRUITS: Texas A&M has four offensive line recruits planning to head to College Station to play next year. Including big 6′ 7” 290 lb Jeremiah Stuckey who is a 3 star on rivals. The others include 3 star Joas Aguilar, 3 star J.J. Gustafson, and 4 star Ishmael Wilson.
