Highschool Football


Even though college football has not started yet, highschool football was in full force tonight. Everyone loves to watch college football and the NFL, but many forget that highschool football is the blood line for both. Tonight was huge as many games were showcased on national television and many coaches were able to get a good look at some prospects.

#1. Booker T. Washington (FL) 55
#6. Norcross (GA) 0

This was a game that was to feature the nations best high school football teams but the Tornadoes of Booker T. Washington ran away from the game. The game featured many future division one players but the Tornadoes prevailed tonight. Florida State commitment Treon Harris was 23 of 28 passing for 287 yards and five touchdowns, adding another 64 yards rushing on 10 carries. He looked unstoppable tonight against last year 6A Georgia State Champions.

Lincoln (FL) 34
S. Gwinnet (GA) 21

These two teams are pretentiously known through out the southeast United States and could finish inside the top 25 by the end of the season. Lincoln’s quarterback Darius Harvey had a huge day who finished with four total touchdowns.

Godby (FL) 35
Plant (FL) 16

Godby high school who won the Florida 5A state championship last year, showed that they are loaded for this upcoming season. Plant (FL) who is a powerhouse in the Tampa are just did not show up until late as Godby held a 35-0 lead. The October showdown between Godby and the Wakulla War Eagles will be interesting for the 5A classification. The Cougars of Godby will be heading to Maryland next week.

Byrnes (S.C.) 51
Apopka (FL) 36

The most dramatic, worried some, and best played game today goes to these two teams. There was so much speed on the field earlier today between the two. Apopka’s quarterback Zack Darlington who is committed to Nebraska was knocked unconscious and had to be airlifted to the local hospital. Our prayers be with him and the Apopka team.
