Wake Forest 4-0?????

Josh Harris, Terrance Parks

This past Thursday night the Wake Forest Demon Deacons destroyed the Presbytarian Blue Hose 31-7. Now most wouldn’t care about this, but I know that this game gave Tanner Price and the gang momentum leading up for the next couple weeks. There are some problems that need to be fixed but lets look at the next three opponents. We are projecting Wake Forest to be 4-0 to start the season!

  • Boston College
  • Just last week the Eagles barely scrapped by Villanova an FCS team. The Boston College puzzle should not be hard to solve. Veteran quarterback Chase Rettig was solid last week but only two of his receivers caught multiple passes. With Wake Forest’s secondary being the stronger unit of the defense, they should strive again if they only have to worry about two wide receivers. Freshman Running back John Armstrong will need more carries to be able to take the pressure off of Tanner Price.

  • Louisiana Monroe
  • Everyone remembers ULM’s upset over Arkansas “last year” but 2013 is different. It was hard to judge ULM last week as they were over matched against the #16 Oklahoma Sooners. One thing is for sure is that Kolton Browning is a player! Hopefully the subpar running game for ULM will allow Wake Forest to improve their front seven.

  • Army
  • This is a rematch from last season where the scoreboard was lighted up to a 49-37 Demon Deacon win. This year will be different in a bigger Wake Forest win. The Army offense goes through quarterback Angel Santiago who was a offensive machine last week. The Army defense showed weakness last week against a lowly Morgan State from the MEAC.

Bottom line there is no reason why Wake Forest should not be 4-0 rolling into Clemson week, who I dare say may be anywhere ranked at #1-#3 by then. Wake Forest fans should be highly disappointed if they are not starting out the season 4-0. With a solid experienced senior quarterback under center there is no reason to see struggles this year.
