Louisiana Monroe Football 2013 Recap

ULM

Coming off an 8-4 season that included upsetting Arkansas and nearly beating Baylor(47-42) and Auburn(31-28 OT) the Warhawks regressed to a 6-6 record and missed out on a bowl game. But now the Warhawks lose Senior Quarterback Kolton Browning and their two leading rushers Jyruss Edward and Centarius Donald to graduation. The Warhawks have the 98 rated recruiting class and will try and reach their second bowl game in school history in 2014.

Record: 6-6(4-3)

High Point: Upsetting Wake Forest 21-19 in Winston Salem.

Low Point:  Losing to Tulane 31-14. This lose was their low point because last year the Warhawks beat Tulane 63-10 in New Orleans.

Offensive MVP: Rashon Ceaser WR 65 receptions 964 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Isaiah Newsome DB 48 tackles 3 TFL 4 Int (175 return yards) and 3 pass breakups

Best Game: Louisiana Monroe 31 Louisiana Lafayette 28

The Warhawks beat their instate rival 31-28 as Kolton Browning threw for two Touchdowns and a 77 yard Touchdown run by Devontae McNeal. This game was so important to the Warhawks becuase not only did they beat their rival who finished the season 8-4(5-2) it gave the warhawks a winning season to a team that isn’t used to winning

Worst Game: Arkansas State 42  Louisiana Monroe 14

The Red Wolves dominated the Warhawks in all phases of the game to win 42-14.Browning threw two interceptions and stuggled to get going as the Warhawks were blown out.The defense couldn’t stop the Red Wolves attack as they let 494 yards of total offense. At halftime the game was tied 14-14 but the Warhawks would let up 4 stright touchdowns and couldn’t manage to find the end zone in the second half.

Season Rating 5/10: While it’s nice to have a winning season the Warhawks took a massive step back from a magical 8-4 season that saw them going to their first bowl game in school history. 2014 dosen’t look so promising to ULM as they lose a lot of talent to graduation but the Warhawks aren’t strangers to miracles so you never know what’ll happen in the small school form Louisiana
